A 'must do in Wanaka. We booked the basic tour online $25 each. Certainly got our money's worth. Our guide Samantha took us through all the details and processes of the whisky, gin and vodka production processes. Answered all our detailed questions with good humor and accuracy. Especially enjoyed the very informed (and delicious) tasting at the end. I was driving so mostly sniffed and smallest of sips but still enjoyed hugely. It's an easy drive but If in a hired campervan you can only get there from Wanaka, the Queenstown access via Crown Range is forbidden. We didn't have the Light meals that are available, but coffee was excellent. Their products are at the premium price end of the scale. I bought a bottle of the elderflower liquor, for those special winter occasions!Barry M.
Exquisite dining While staying in Queenstown we visited Wanaka over the Cardrona Road.
This road is in great condition and now tar sealed all the way. Some sharp bends but great views and worth the effort.
We were told about the Cardrona Distillery so decided to drop in unannounced.
We were treated like royalty and selected some sharing platters with gin to wash it down.
Although the platters were not big in size, they tasted great with interesting flavours.
A great way to split the 55 minute trip from Queenstown to Wanaka.Peter_Bloor
An experience not to be missed. We visited the Distillery with a group of 60 and were split in 2 groups to do the tasting and the distillery tour.
The experience was amazing. Kenny and the staff were delightful.
Many people drive through Cardrona without realising the experience the distillery has to offer.
I thoroughly recommend you visit it.
You will not be disappointed.MarkL944
A must do while in Wanaka I recommend this tour even if you are not a Whiskey fan. The story of this business is inspirational. Our guide Brianna was great and very knowledgeable and passionate about the region. This is my second tour and will do it again. Love what you have created, keep it up.Jan1060
Book a tour My wife and I did the distillery tour. The knowledge shared with passion is awesome. The tour takes you from the garden right through the distilling process. This is followed by a fab tasting session of there different products. Book a tour in advance so you do not miss it. The distillery buildings and setting are not to be missed even if just stopping for a coffee.PhillipB294
The best gin... EVER! Hands down the best gin I have ever tasted. Ever. And that is saying something! We had the gin tasting and enjoyed a glass of The Source gin and tonic in your restaurant (we couldn't get on a tour). Ended up buying 2 bottles of The Source gin as we both agreed that it was the best we have ever tasted. A huge thank you to the team who answered all our questions. We are looking forward to having another glass now as it has just arrived by courier!djdonaldson1971
